Social Selling Index (SSI)

LinkedIn's 0–100 score of how actively and credibly you use the platform, across four pillars: professional brand, finding the right people, engaging with insights, and building relationships.

How SSI is scored

The Social Selling Index is a 0 to 100 score LinkedIn computes daily for every member. It is the sum of four pillars worth 25 points each: establishing your professional brand, finding the right people, engaging with insights, and building relationships. You can see your own score free at linkedin.com/sales/ssi, with your rank against your industry and your network.

What LinkedIn says the score predicts

LinkedIn's own SSI page claims that social selling leaders "create 45% more opportunities than peers with lower SSI" and are "51% more likely to reach quota". Those are LinkedIn's numbers on its own sales-solutions marketing, and they describe correlation among Sales Navigator users. Read them as a vendor's case for the product, not as a law of outbound.

Why SSI matters for outbound anyway

SSI describes activity across LinkedIn's four social-selling areas. It is useful as an activity-review prompt, not a published invitation allowance or proof of platform trust.

How to raise it without gaming it

Review the four areas separately: profile and professional presence, relevant prospect research, useful engagement, and relationship building. Work on the activity that fits your actual sales process rather than treating the aggregate score as an outcome.

What SSI does not do

SSI does not establish a safe automation volume or guarantee account protection. Read actual account limits and measure outreach outcomes separately.

What is a good SSI score?

Use the score and its component areas as context for your own activity. Do not infer a guaranteed sales outcome or invitation limit from a threshold.

Does SSI drop if I stop using LinkedIn?

The score reflects recorded activity. Review the current score directly rather than assuming a fixed decay schedule or translating it into sending capacity.

In practice

Read the four SSI activity areas as prompts for profile, research, engagement, and relationship work.

What to check

SSI is not a promised invitation allowance or a LinkedBoost sending input. Do not convert a score into a guaranteed safe volume.
